Pirate Success

On a Sunny Sunday, 29 October 2006, the Wolverhampton Vegans and Vegetarians held a Pirate Day in aid of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society........ Pirate Day in aid of Sea Shepherd
Members of our group dressed and talked like pirates and laid on delicious vegan food, a tombola, a jumble and information stalls. Darren Collis, crew member of Sea Shepherd set up his stall with plenty of merchandise and information and showed films on a large screen in the room, which ran almost continuously, providing insight and atmosphere to the whole event inspiring everyone to dig deep and support this most worthy cause.  He also gave an interesting authoritive talk about Sea Shepherd’s work and took questions from the audience.

Around 60 people came to give their support and they were all very generous.  Every penny raised from food and stalls went to Sea Shepherd and when added to the merchandise sales, donations and new memberships, came to an amazing £700 (maybe more, profits from official merchandise yet to be precisely calculated /> .

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this a very successful and enjoyable day.  To keep up to date with SSCS latest news please see their site; www.seashepherd.org
