Rest In Peace Felix

Solidarity Day for Felix Felix - a beautiful, sentient Macaque Monkey is dead. We can take no comfort in that his passing was peaceful as we all know he would’ve suffered unimaginable pain and received no comfort, no love, just a lonely death.

To say I feel heartbroken is putting it mildly; yes, I cry most days for the animals of the world used and abused in the hands of monsters, but Felix had become a symbol. I like to think a symbol of hope; after all these years campaigning, you’d think I would know not to be so naïve as to think they may let him go free. But for me, hope is a vital part of campaigning, we must always hope that people will see what we see and feel what we feel for this needless loss of lives. We must always hope that one day all lives will be treated with respect and compassion, that this human arrogance that we are a more worthy species will cease.

Felix is finally free, as the song says ’death is the only release’, what a wicked world it is for so many of the animal kingdom when the only chance of escape is to die. But Felix is now at peace and finally knows what love and compassion are, he will now know that not all human beings are evil and cruel, he will know peace.

But what of the other innocent lives at the mercy of the merciless? We must continue and campaign with hope that one day all will be free and not just after death. Oxford University plan to murder another 8 Macaques over the next four years having put them through the same living hell as Felix endured. Spread the word and let the world know of the brutality and bloodshed this University is responsible for.

Rest in Peace beautiful Felix and know that you are and always were loved.

With love and freedom, K x
